Elmo is a red roan horse that Garrod Farms leased for summer camp. He is a short red roan horse (probably almost a pony). He is pretty hot/speedy, and LOVES trotting. He feels kind of stiff when steering, so you have to use a lot of cues to get him to turn. He has a speedy walk; a bouncy, quick trot that is difficult to slow down; and a fast, rocky lope. Even though Elmo is a really speedy horse, it is difficult to get him to lope immediately. He thrashes around and does a lot of ‘death trotting’. Besides the fact that Elmo is slightly difficult to ride, he is great on the ground. He is probably one of the easiest horses I have ever led, since he would walk right next to me and stop whenever I stopped.
